I wouldn't mind a suppressor for my 30-06.
I don't think they're legal for hunting in some States.
Mainly for the range and target practice.
Drawback is the high price, around 4800 to $1K.
$200 tax not so much.
When my Dad died, he left me a little money; I thought that buying a class three might be a good investment. I had narrowed it down to a couple of choices, then I realized that, at the cost of ammo (even if I reloaded) I'd shoot away any potential investment in the first month...then I'd go in the hole. And Uncle Big Brother would have my name and address to boot.
Okay, he already does, but an auto or a supressor would be sorta like poking him in the eye.
