I am going to possibly buy or trade for a Charter Arms Patriot target model in 327 mag this weekend and was wondering about any feedback about them. Haven't really heard anything bad about them but I trust everyone hear more than Google reviews. Sound off!

My experience is that the recent years of Charter arms have been very good weapons and the .327 is very versatile platform.

I bought a new CATP in 2009. It was the longest barrel and only one with adjustable sights on the market at that time. I fired 200 rounds of American Eagle 100 grain factory loads thru it and have been loading the cases with 115 grain cast GC bullets loaded hot ever since. Sees a lot of shooting, No problems, but keep a screw driver handy, the screws shoot loose. When they announced stopping production I bought another one just to have. I like the gun a lot, probably approaching 8000 rounds of hand loads and several boxes of factory loads, just to get the brass. Good gun!!!!!

I really don't want to sound a sour note, especially on my first post here, but I had the following email exchange with Nick Ecker, the president of CA

Me: I don't see any .327 Federal Magnum revolvers under the Products on your web site. Have they been discontinued?

Nick: We did discontinue the .327 as it best suited for a rifle.

I have also heard that they grab any 327 snubbies that come in for repair work and send back a .357 snubby.

If anyone would make a 327 rifle, I'd be first inline.

I talked to Ecker in early 2010 via email about a longer barrel 327 and was informed that it was not in the works. My Target Patriot is a great gun, but then so is my Taurus 327B2. I feed both of them the same heavy hand loads. And I have a brand new, still in the box, Target Patriot for if/when the first one breaks down.
