No. It sounds like you may be concerned about springs. Use is what wears a spring. Stored compressed or free does no harm. My PT145 has been continuously kept as you describe for over a year now. Do shoot it several times a month.

I had never tested the safety to see if it really worked with one in the barrel 'til the other day at the range. Silly fool, me. But now I know it works.
BTW: Numba One son and I went to the range Friday and he got his first opportunity to fire the PT-145. I should be a salesman! No, wait. It sold itself! As with anyone that fires a PT-145, the size, accuracy and number of rounds it holds impresses. He immediately informed me that it will be his next firearm and his carry piece.
