Did anyone attend the Status Conference that was held today regarding the class action lawsuit? As of now there is no response on the official lawsuit website. If there is no shared report to owners of class pistols in a reasonable time, I will attempt to talk to the Judges' clerk and request an official summary of the meeting.

I assume that the principal topic of discussion was the nine million dollar payout to the lawyers who purport to represent the settlement class.

Well they (the lawyers) are getting only 9 million? Suckers... (sarcasm off) :(

Reminds me of the refrain in Toby Keith's song:

"I want to talk about me
Want to talk about I
Want to talk about number one
Oh my me my
What I think, what I like, what I know, what I want, what I see
I like talking about you, you, you, you usually, but occasionally
I want to talk about me
I want to talk about me"

Status conference update -- 17 Jan 2018?

Any update or new information from the court ordered status conference for this past Wednesday Jan 17, 2018?

http://www.tauruscartersettlement.c...ath=/Documents/Order_on_Status_Conference.pdf

(the year [2017] is listed wrong in the court document)

This status conference is also listed under *important dates* on the settlement FAQs -- Taurus Class Action

I just chatted with the judge's clerk. The Status Conference that was scheduled for January 17th did not take place. It's been rescheduled for February 13th. That means you still have time to share your experience and/or opinion with Judge Seitz. The clerk confirmed that the meeting will be open to the public. Again, is there a member of this forum that lives in the Miami area that would be willing to attend on our behalf?
239 mil? That would bankrupt them.

And that's my concern also...

Only time will tell...

Remember, the Final Judgement was reached over a year and a half ago so it's a little late to try and change it's terms. While it might be financially challenging, I'm betting that Taurus will come through this. But in my opinion, it's now a case of doing what you agreed to do. Backsliding on promises is not the hallmark of a great company.

I chatted with the judge's clerk today (1/23/18 ). The Status Conference was rescheduled to February 13th. You still have time to send a letter to Judge Seitz sharing your experience with this class action lawsuit.

I don't believe it had anything to do with Taurus, what I had heard was that the settlement was not good enough for the plaintiffs..............

Amen, Brother King. But the only thing that matters now is whether the parties to the Final Judgement meet their obligations. Judge Seitz will make that determination and there's still time to share your opinion with her as she rules on this matter.

I can say that this Judge, as well as the Court, is NOT going too let Taurus handle this in my point of view properly.............
The only people who are coming out of this in a good way is the original plaintiff( who was handling that gun wrong) the Lawyers and the
Political carrier of the Judge, everybody else is secondary................
I unfortunately do not have the contacts I did years ago, as I believe this would have been solved much better then, but if I were you, maybe find a
way too get you thoughts in the Court..................

I have. The judge's clerk assured me that they have my earlier letter in their possession and it will be considered in the Status Conference. I'm just trying to get more Class Pistol owners to share their opinion while there is still time.

Will changing the status conference update to after the filing deadline defeat the purpose of the update?

I, perhaps naively, had been waiting to make any decision about returning my pistol until after this update. Perhaps the update would have been irrelevant to me, but now it's definitely moot.

Wow! I just received a letter from Judge Seitz. It reads:

"I have received your letter of January 9, 2018 and have forwarded it to Class Counsel and Defence Counsel for them to respond directly to you.

At the February 13, 2018 hearing on this matter at 10:30 AM, I will require counsel to respond on the record to your letter."

How's them apples!

Me too. Where's my$$$$?
Well, they've got to count up the number of people who returned pistols for the cash option before they can divvy up the money among them. The last day to return a pistol for cash was February 6, and they've probably got a couple of warehouses full of pistols to sift through. I can't say I like this class action settlement, but I understand why it's going to take some time to get you your money and me my turd brown PT111G2.:D

Class action lawsuits are rarely for the benefit of the consumer. The lawyers
are usually the only winners.
