Just got my new Buck Mark last Saturday (it's all vaskeet's fault!) and shot about 100 rounds yesterday. It's a fun gun to shoot!

In cleaning it I puzzled over the little rod/shaft/pin sticking out of the front of the slide. What is its function and what is it called? I wonder if it's likely to be damaged in cleaning.

I know I should probably ask this in a Browning forum, but there's no better, and knowledgeable, group of gun guys than TA.net.

The hooked piece is the extractor and the circled piece is the ejector. The extractor grabs the empty and pulls it out of the chamber and then the ejector tosses the empty out of the gun.
