Today I was playing Connect 4 with my 9 yr old daughter and she asks me if I let her win.

I tell her sometimes. She asks if I let her win the last game. This is important because I have been trying to impress upon them both to be specific when asking a question and to state it so they get the information they seek. She nailed it.

Then she did something that suprised me. She said put on your thinking camp and give me your best. I asked if she was sure and she said "yes...I would rather lose than have you let me win. I want to be proud when I win."

5 games later she beat me fair and square. What a great day.

Man, I used to love Connect 4!

Yeah. It is a great strategy game. I am trying to teach her to look 2 or 3 moves ahead and not get so focused on her offense that she gets out maneuvered.

There is no shame in losing as long as you did your best. If you don't want to lose in the future then you must learn from it.
