I was wondering if you were to polish the exterior of your barrel if it would make the slide smoother. Also what would be the best way to polish it really good?
Generally, no. Lockup is dependant upon the Locking Lugs and Slide/Barrel Muzzle Fit. Removing too much metal can be too easily done unless you are experienced in Fitting parts. It is better to just let the mating surfaces wear in with regular use along with proper lubrication.ESProctor1 said:I was wondering if you were to polish the exterior of your barrel if it would make the slide smoother.
I polish the crown or tip of the barrel for cosmetic reasons............if you want to smoothen the slide then you have to focus more on the rails on the slide and frame and the fitment. I use a buffing wheel and jeweler's polish to get a mirror finish on my crown.ESProctor1 said:I was wondering if you were to polish the exterior of your barrel if it would make the slide smoother.
