My take away from all that data: Heavier bullets and solid copper bullets seem to be the best choice overall. Which leads back to that old debate about 45acp versus everything else. Many data points to take in from this article, take your time when reviewing.
One thing I got from the tests was a good bullet design for each caliber tested.
i think silver string is right, the short barrel of 45ACP carry weapons do better with a solid projectile. I feel the same for the 38 Special. Hell, I carried hardball in my Ultra Carry forever. Then went to Underwood Extreme Penetrators when I could find them. 45ACP suffers from having most hollow points opening up too fast and limits penetration. Solid bullets don’t.
Lots of information, and a worthwhile read to amuse about. This type of data helps bullet manufacturers develop designs for future use. In which we all win! When you get a hollowpoint to penetrate to the wanted depth and expand to the same, cool stuff!
