Hey everyone, first time user here and long time Taurus lover.....anyway to the point...on dec.28th i bought a NIB pt24/7 G2 standard in .45
went to the range and put about 200 rounds through it with the usual hiccups of breaking in a newer pistol. It had a few dead primer strikes (the ammo i was using was pretty old) but the double strike feature worked flawlessly ..a few failure to feeds but none on the ejection side...i took home some empty brass to inspect and saw it was denting alot of the cartridges....i cleaned and reassembled and from that point on it would not chamber a round properly no matter what....unloaded the gun and made sure all the features and actions still worked which they did...i called CS and they sent me a prepaid shipping label on 1/4/13 i sent it out 1/5/13 and was notified it was received by Taurus on the 8th. the website indicated they had it on 1/10/13. on 1/15/13 the website said "awaiting parts"....so i called on the 16th to see what parts we were waiting for and was told they did not know and it would be about 6-8 weeks until i got it back. i Called today (2/12/13) and was informed they are still waiting for parts only this time when i asked what part they guy said...ammo to test fire the gun.....am i to believe that i have more .45 acp ammo from my local wally world than and international firearm manufacturer??? i dont know what to think and i was told there is no time frame whatsoever...i had the gun in my possession for barely a week and they have had it for over a month now....FRUSTRATED!!

That’s a negative side effect of the ammo crunch. Ouch! Sorry for the headache! Welcome to the forum!

Got to be honest... I did NOT see that coming! Holy crap... If something needs to be sent in to the mfr, should we send rounds (separately, of course!) for test firing??? I really want to tack on an "lol" but this $#!T isn't really funny anymore.

Bummer, hang in there when Taurus is able to score some ammo you will have your firearm returned as good as new. Congrats on the 840, a look forward to the range report.

When Obummer was elected I decided to get back into reloading. I had reloaded many years ago and sold everything that I had:(. Got back into it with a Dillon Precision RL550B and absolutely love it. I save a ton on ammo now. Every time my friend and I go to the range we pick up tons of 9mm and 45ACP brass. I cannot believe the number of people that do not save brass. All of our local outlets are running low on all types of ammo, even 22LR. Primers and powder are also getting hard to get. My last batch of 1000 primers took almost three months to get. I'm thinking it's only going to get worse, so stock up on it when you can find it.

Sorry for your difficulties. I do think you hit on the answer yourself. I would be willing to bet they use a specific ammo to help reduce variables.
