i use it on my savage with synthetic stock, the taurus, and remington with a plastic-something trigger gaurd. it's supposed to eat away most plastics, but there are some plastics (like the bottle it comes in) that are ok. i haven't seen any adverse effects on the polymer grip of the taruas, nor the stock of the savage, and neither with the reminton trigger group. anybody with long term experience find out otherwise?

i'm assuming that the plastics on most guns are actually a nylon type polymer so there should be no problem. am i wrong?

Every manufacturer I know of uses polymer's that are resistant to most common gun cleaning chemicals. Although I have heard of discoloration I haven't seen one that has been 'melted' from chemicals. However, I would always test a solvent I haven't tried yet on an inconspicuous area to be sure though. My friends with Glocks and my Ruger P345 have had no problems with anything yet.

Here is what one polymer company says about their injection molded firearms polymer products.

"Custom glass-fiber-filled plastic material blended by Polymer and selected for low weight, chemical resistance, stiffness, low and high temperature performance, and weatherability. TPE overmold and recoil pad material. Special grade of 50% glass filled nylon for forearm insert."
