I was told it was stainless, never owned a nickel pistol, I don't know how to tell the difference. Could be why it's got some rust? I've got it all apart and problem parts soaking in metal saver to remove all the rust. Can you even polish a satin nickel finish? If not there goes my plan to polish itBlue hammer and trigger? It looks all in the world like a satin nickel gun, not stainless, but that's okay, classier IMHO.I have a satin nickel 66 what has a blued hammer/trigger, also, or really sorta color case hardened. The finish is JUST like that. It's a early/mid 90s gun.
I just love used Taurus handguns. You can get some REAL bargains. I paid $197 for my nickel 66 and it was/is like new.Great shooter, too. Have fun with that puppy.
I would NOT attempt to polish it. A polished finish is done by polishing the metal BEFORE plating. You'll just succeed in removing the nickel.I was told it was stainless, never owned a nickel pistol, I don't know how to tell the difference. Could be why it's got some rust? I think most of the older guns were built better than the new ones.
