ANOTHER 917 QUESTION

Since the Taurus website is no help, here goes...

I've seen Taurus P917 CS models, with and without finger groves in frame and with fiber optic and without fiber optic front sight. I've seen it marked 917 C & 917 CS. Are these all different guns, or just the same gun, later generation? Or what? I'm so confused, and I would really would like one, but if I can't find out what I need to know, I for sure know my dealer is not going to spend as much time as I have on the internet & still have no answers. HELP!

hmm, the 917's i've seen had regular sights and normal straight front strap..
but thats a good question.. do you have a picture of the ones with finger grooves in the frame?

EDIT: nvm i just found one on taurus website

it says "compact plus" perhaps a new variant? like a "pro" or "tactical" version?
never seen a 917 like this before anyone got one?

When I googled 917 CS, on images, I got both with and without finger groves & with and without fiber optic sight. Blue one on Taurus website has reg front sight but I have seen stainless both ways too.
ya i dont know, never seen this kind IRL before, perhaps this is either a new variation, or perhaps this is the new version and it is replacing the older one with the straight front strap..

either way makes sense, either a newer tactical variant, or it could have been that they was simply using 92 frames until either their proved to be enough demand to start going in a seperate direction with the 917's?

or maybe it was a simple matter of whats at hand rather then producing unique 917 frames just use the 92 frames they had around already until they ran low on them then started producing these newer finger groove frames.

purely speculation.

Is the front sight on yours drift able ? Do any come with adjustable sights ?
I've yet to see one in person but on all the pic I've seen the front sight looks dovetailed so you could move it left-right or replace it. But I don't think they come with rear adjustable sight though;must be same sight that PT92/100 comes with which again you can replace...
where can i get those kind of front sight? is it already available in the market?
picked up the blued version w/ front hienie sight and straight fore-grip for 400 even last week... got 1000 rounds through it with no issues whatsoever, great gun. spoke to the people at williams about their firesight, seems that's what taurus is using as the fiber optic front (it's short run for certain dealers...), i'm thinking of getting one (they list it as compatible w/ the pt-100, same as 917c). since i got a great deal, i've got no complaints, but the one's w/ the finger grooves do feel better/thinner in the hand (and i like mine so much, my next new gun will be the same exact thing but w/ the grooves...). if you can handle both type before you buy, i'd recommend it.
I have a question, I own a Taurus 917CS and want to put ivory grips on, however they don't sell them for the 917, the do have the 92 and 99. Will these grips fit the 917CS??

Congrats, but...:nopics:
@Tonyhamp. The grips you are looking for should fit 92, 99, 100 and 917. You may have to purchase aftermarket screws. So, I'd do some research. In the event of which, you may wanna chech this out. http://www.taurusarmed.net/forums/p...r-beretta-92-variants-grip-trim-shortcut.html
Glad I got mine a couple of years back. When I first ordered the pistol I thought it would come with the fiber optic sights but it didn't. Came with the dovetailed sights. I'm still happy with it.

So, does anyone know what the differences between the C and the CS models?

Is it possible the CS stands for the stainless model?
I have the PT917C and I love it! Plan on getting the same gun in stainless which Bud's now has available again. I am having
one hell of a time finding 1 original grip screw which I lost. Anyone have one laying around???
