I realize that the pieces parts are computer cut and the clock is just a battery driven action, but how the h*** can you even glue it all together, put it on a boat, sail it half way around the world, transfer it to a truck and drive it to me (at no additional charge) and make any money at all for that price?

Interesting piece if I were still in my early American phase...

Simple, the description says wood and wood veneer, places can get away with calling something like mdf or particle board solid wood because they are made from wood parts, the wood is likely referenced to the wood veneer, again a marketing trick. So the actual cost of that is much lower then you would think.

it also has reviews such as this, i tend to believe the low star reviews, nobody is going to pay for a 1-3 star, unlike the 4 and 5 stars which are largely paid for reviews anymore. Or at the very least it is a company that got a bad review and offered another of the product, or a refund, to get your bad review turned into a good review. have had that happen about 5 times on amazon, seller contacted me after a honest review and offered me a new product and a refund to revise it to be better.
Item is poorly made. The product arrived broken. The bottom locked unit was broken off. Product also shipped with no key. Please don't purchase unless you want an unsafe safe.

I put little stock in reviews. Positive reviews always seem to be paid for and most negative reviews appear to be written by total idiots. Not defending the product but this review is a perfect example.....

Item is poorly made........gee.........ya' think?! I'm sorry but if you're expectin' to get a high quality grandfather clock for under $300, you're a good hundred years late. Just the cabinet door, if made of oak would cost more than that.

The product arrived broken. The bottom locked unit was broken off....a real drag but common sense would dictate it wasn't made that way, blame the shipper.

Product also shipped with no key....again, common sense. Keys and other small items are usually packed in the smallest compartments....of which the door was broken off during shipping. Chances are it was loose in the box but the buyer threw it out with the packaging. Again, blame the shipper....and possibly your own lack of attention.

Please don't purchase unless you want an unsafe safe....please don't purchase a cabinet when you want a safe! It's just like the clip/magazine argument. This is not a gun safe, it's a gun cabinet.

Of course, the real kicker is where the ad states in bold letters on top "opt out of free return" and again below "Don't forget to waive free return in cart and get an even lower price ". Whoever wrote this review, i hope was buying this for someone else......frightening to think they might own a gun.

OH.. so it's actually intended to be used as a *clock*??! I though at $270 it was to be used as an expensive TARGET! Silly me.

I think it's COOL! I'd display muzzle loaders in it....early American ya know. :D

I like the hidden in plain sight thing. I built a false wall in my other house and didn't even have a lock on it. Burgler broke in, didn't find anything. All for the price of some plyboard and paneling.
