Picked up a new Springfield XD four inch barrel in .45 caliber, on the 20th of
this month. Haven't fired it yet. But, I'll be going to the range this week for the
"maiden voyage" shooting. I know Propellerhead has several XD's. And he gives
them good reports.

It came with two 13 round mags. I will forward a range report very soon. This
is my second pistol in .45 cal.

You will like it I have one in 45 and 2 in 40S&W all of the are service models and BiTone, like Propellerhead I have 1000's of rounds thru them and not 1 problem except I keep running out of ammo. Just realized I don't have any pics of my XD's in the gallery I'll have to fix that when I get home.

I love my XD9SC. The only issues I've come across is that the first two additional mags (OEM) won't drop free so they are spares and range mags. The only other thing is that mine didn't like Blazer Aluminum (1st gun of mine to not like that stuff). It runs fine with everything else including Wolf steel case so I don't care. In the guns defense I will say that I only ran half a box through it and there was only 1 bobble (don't recall what exactly right now). Maybe someday I'll spot some for a good price and run it through just to see how it does. Would never use Blazer Aluminum for carry (assuming that I had a choice), why risk it?

Thanks guys, for the comments. A good friend of mine checked the slide action
on it, the other day. He said it was a bit stiff; but the trigger action was nice!
I disassembled it & looked it over. It seemed pretty clean. I was planning to test
fire it right out of the box.

Didn't see any kind of gunk in it. I generally shoot a new firearm right out of the
box. Then I give it a good cleaning. I have a bunch of 230gr. fmj's from Walmart
on standby. I think I'll take it out to the range this afternoon, for the first firing.

Right now, I'm doing research on the Springfield Ultra Compact stainless, in .45 cal.
I'm still waiting for the Taurus 1911 compact in stainless, whenever they come out.
But for now, I've got my sights on the Springfield 1911 Ultra Compact.

Can you believe it? I've had that XD45 for four day now! Haven't put anything through the pipe as yet! I'd better get moving on that.

Well, I finally test fired the XD45 this afternoon. Now, I need to find out how
to post a link for pictures. The gun shoots & handles very well. From the groups
that I got, I'm not gonna touch the rear sight. I'll just keep working with it as is.
I took photos of some of the targets that I used.

I'll post them as soon as I can. There's definitely room for improvment; but I am
encouraged with the initial results.

That's great news since I have a XD .45 Tactical on my 'short list' for future gun purchases. Somehow though, my list continues to grow all the time, especially after having logged onto gunbroker.com and browsing from time to time. :D

Taurus_9mm, I know the feeling. I also put in a lot of time browsing on
gunbroker dot com. Right now, I am looking for the Springfield Ultra Compact
in .45 cal. They have them on gunbroker; most of them are used.

And I want one with the ambi safety, me being a southpaw. I looked at a nice
micro compact at my local shooting range club, with the three inch barrel. But,
they want eleven hundred & some odd dollars for that one!

Needless to say, I'm still shopping.

Well, I'm gonna try to post a photo of my first shoot with the
Springfield XD45. I was using Fiocchi fmj's. Pretty good stuff, that Fiocchi.

I shot at a minimum distance of 30 feet. Ten rounds for the target. This gun
has great potential. Very first time I fired this pistol. It's definitely a keeper!

locknload,

That's some good shooting!!

I have had my 4" XD45 since August 06'. I now have about 2500 rounds through it and have yet to experience any malfunctions. It too is very accurate. One change I made is to replace the factory sights with Tru-Glo Tritium Fiber Optic.....what a different it makes.

Old threads are sometimes better the second time around. ;D Nice shooting Tex45ACP. I finally picked up my XD .45 ACP Tactical awhile back and really get a lot of enjoyment out of it too, though I've not changed the sights as you have with yours, or made any other changes to it. The only thing I really need is another 2 magazines for it and I'll be content.

locknload, how has your XD grown on you since you picked it up back in April?

As an addendum, someone speculated on another board that perhaps the XDs will grow in popularity with some law enforcement and governmental agencies since Springfield will be releasing models in the near future with manual safeties.
