Here is the newest info on the 809 model pistol to be released...

It is derived from the successful “Taurus OSS” pistol we designed for the U.S. Armed Forces, but adds an external hammer that has been asked for by so many of our valued customers.

Strike Two" Capability
The Taurus 800 Series is now ready with “Strike Two” capability. If you have had a hard primer and the gun misfi res, the 800 Series senses this and automatically gives you instant “Strike Two” capability by resetting the trigger for automatic double action re-strike. No need to do anything else, simply pull the trigger.

It appears to be a reworking of the 24/7 OSS with an external hammer. The exciting part is that it will be built around a familiar double stack magazine with the new addition of the decocker. Since the basic design has already been worked out... we should expect to see a new series of 800 model Taurus'... the 809, 840 and 845... all built on the capacities we are familiar with in the 24/7 models. The more I look at this the more I think Taurus is going to have a "win-win" senario with this pistol.
