Yep. We are gonna have to disagree on this. I'm a board certified licensed MD and for the record "Masks do not prevent contracting Covid or any other communicable disease." On this, there is no question - read the disclaimers on mask boxes and they say this exact thing. I'm a diabetic with HBP but have refused to wear a mask even when around known active cases of Covid and I'm still kicking. In my 30+ years in medicine I've never taken a flu shot or pneumovax. And I've never come down with with the flu or any other communicable diseases despite being coughed on, farted on, pissed on, crapped on, sweated on, bled on and vomited on. I can also say that keeping people in enclosed spaces, as opposed to out in wide open spaces, encourages spread of communicable diseases. Look throughout history and in every instance in which people have been forced into enclosed spaces, including prisons, and you can see an outbreak which decimated the population. The Black Plague of the Middle Ages - due to rat fleas which flourished in the poor sanitary conditions of the time. The prevailing monarch of the time ordered the people/peasants to stay indoors which just gave the fleas easier access to more people. We can agree to disagree.
Trump owns the 200,000 American deaths. He did not do enough.
Masks work and save lives plain and simple.
Read the scientific data and not idiot posts on this.
we should have had a 100% national mask wearing law in January.
i had my Filipina wife and Filipino children in a mandatory mask in January before it was law there.
They are safe and healthy as a result of this early action.
You are, of course, entitled to your own beliefs and opinions. You would probably never believe how much I suffered "old wives tales" treatments as a kid. I was a skinny sickly underweight kid and I got sick at the drop of a hat. And that is what probably has been my biggest protector. I never came down with measles, mumps, chickenpox, diphtheria, polio or any other "usual childhood illnesses" of the early '60s but my sister had them all (well, no polio - we were both immunized before age 1; and no smallpox - we were immunized against that, too). You would never match up my 6'5" 250 lb frame now with my 4'4" 75 lb frame at age 5. Bottom line: I've checked and I'm immune to every "usual childhood disease" of my childhood despite never being vaccinated against them and never having them. My point? Your exposure to as many things as possible while you are a kid - when your immune system is at its fastest development - can save you from misery later in life. This is not the first Covid virus mankind has seen. It has existed at least as long as 10,000 years (based on deep ice cores) and won't be the last. It comes around as a local "bug of the week" at least every 5 years or so.
Want to keep wearing masks? Please, be my guest. But don't expect me to allow popular opinion to trump my life experiences and education.
