I bought a nite sight that said it was for a JFrame. The width of the blade is .125. Which is hair wider than than the stock blade. I filed it on both sides till it fit in the grove and then had to round the blade to get it flush. I drilled the hole and pinned it. It came out good. Only error was I scratched the side of the site on one side but for now I just blacked it out with a marker. So in theory any sight that says it will fit a Jframe or a ruger sp101 should be made to work on the 856. I think the actual width of the blade is .117 or .118 approx. I got that number from a guy with an 856 Defender. They come with a bitchen night site and Im sure it fits our 2 inch barrel but Taurus says it wont. I tried to buy one from Taurus but they gave me a hard time. I said just sell it to me. She said if I modify my gun it will void the warrenty,!then She said they are on back order and took my credit card number. I guess I hv one on backorder. Not sure she probably just did that to get rid of me. Here are some pics.

I prefer my 2" with the black fixed sights. Can't hit anything with my 3" with the factory nite sight. Probably gonna go the opposite route and try to fit a stock smith j-frame sight if I ever get around to it.

That's a mighty fine offer but I work full time and have too many projects going on already. By the time I got around to it it might not even glow anymore

Wow...nice work!

My orange dot XS has arrived, and I hope to get to the project this weekend. If I am as successful as you, I'll be sure to do a follow-up post.

Okay...night sight installed! I'm not particularly handy, and even for me it was a breeze. The sight took a minimal amount of sanding, and the drilling for the pin was a slow process (wanted to make sure I did it straight!) but worked out fine.

But I'm mad a myself for nicking the revolver's finish near the muzzle...my punch tool slipped!

Does anyone know of a product for touching up Taurus' matte black finish?

Birchwood Casey Super Black touch-up pens work pretty well. About $10 for a pen.

Xr,

If you're still watching this, how does the new front site line up with the rear trench sight. Is it flush, or does it stick up a bit? How's the POA in relation to the POI?

And if you're inclined to post another pic, can you do a sight picture picture? Thanks.

Ok these pics arent very good. This psrticular site its .180 high. I think stock blade is.185..... at arms length it fits perfect in the square of the rear. These pics are before and after I colored it. I think I like the silver better. Let’s face it this isnt a target gun, I just did this kind of for fun and to have a better side on the front. whether it actually makes any difference at all who knows I hope I never have to fire it in any sort of defensive situation. It’s just fun to modify things and try to make them better but we’re all different. I still would like to get nite site from 3” barrel model. Can anyone get one and sell it to me?
