From what I have read and seen , the new 856 uses the same grips as the 85,605 & 905

Changing grips is a bit tricky. Taurus uses a frame pin to secure the standard boot style grips used lately. By the way that pin is slightly oversized so it is difficult to drift out. But I did on two new Taurus revolvers, one was replaced with a Hogue combat/target style grip (longer). You just use the pin to hang a bracket which is used to screw in the new grip. Or you can scour the interwebs for an Uncle Mikes 59008 (discontinued years ago) which mounts with a side screw. Taurus makes a combat grip, but it is never in stock (I have two on backorder for over 6 months)
