Piggybacking off kje54's original 856 roll pin thread, I'd like to thank Sharps40 for his suggestion of tapping the roll pin hole for an 8-32 machine screw. Frankly, I'm surprised I didn't come up with this, myself. I'm not THAT inept.
When I got my first 856 years ago, I immediately switched to a Hogue 67000, even though the stock grip fit my hand very well. Wasn't/isn't a fan of the roll pin as I take my gats apart once in a while (Galloway springs and a good cleaning).
Picked up a tap, pulled the cylinder, clamped my stainless 856CH to the bench and ran the tap through by hand, slowly, using some cutting oil and backing off every 1/4 turn. A 3/4" button-head cap screw on my strong-hand side does the trick. Head sinks right into the rubber.
Can't wait to get out there and see how much a difference there is.
Thanks, again, Sharps40!
