I am still looking at Buds site. They show pictures of 709 with angular shaped trigger guard and with circular shaped guard. I cannot find the circular version in the Taurus catalog. Are these pics legit---if so are there other differences

See my comment in the other thread about Buds, pictures. Those are pre model pictures from the first time Taurus proposed the model, not the slanted guard that made production????

Yup. Bud's has lots of questionable photos and a disclaimer to that effect. Here's what a real 709 looks like:
