45/70 Mould

Any recommendations for a 45/70 mould for a Marlin 1895 Lever Action. I finally got around to buying the dies I've been planning to buy for over 15 years now I only need is Brass and a bullet mould. I killed my first deer with this rifle using a 350 grain jacketed hollow pointpoint, loaded on Halloween night with borrowed dies just prior to deer season that year then my cousin killed a couple deer with it later in the season
Just curious what some of you more experienced players use thank you

I cast and reload for 45/60, 45/70 and 45/110. In my lever action 45/60 I use a Lyman 457122AV (I think, it is patinaed). It weighs out at 340 gr, flat nose Hollow Point.

I've been buying 45-70 405 grain and 300 grain, along with 185 Grain 32 Winchester Special gas checked from this guy. Nice local guy in ILLinois...no relation besides being a happy customer.

I am new here. So I hope I am not committing a forum crime. But Brassman Brass, I know personally. He is in the same town as me here in Jefferson. To me and everyone I have ever talked to, John has always been super honest. I buy a lot of brass from him. That is my .02 worth.

I've used Brassman before and liked the product and service a lot!. Also bought 45-70 brass from Capitol Brass and a big box of .223 from Palmetto State Armory that they had on special sale.

The 340grain mold is about what I was thinking of. The pictures of the bullets look nice also it would be nice to try some different bullets other than just what the mold would produce and I will defiantly get a hold of Brassman ,
Thank you all. This is one of the reasons I like this site everyone will pitch in and help

I have used the Lee 350 gn and 405 gn double cavity molds for years for years with good results. I shoot them as dropped without sizing in my Marlin and sized to 458 for my Hi Wall. I don't load them hot but even at 1500 fps they will kill anything in North America.

I couldn't find any 45-70 cases from Brassman so I bought 100 New .Starline from Midway

Also Dave Gullo up at Buffalo Arms in Sand Point (I Think) Idaho. Great service and prices. He has moved to Ponderay, ID.

After posting on this thread, I cast up more of the bullets and tried them in the 45/70 and 45/110. I don't know why I never tried them before. I was impressed with their accuracy. I also use only BP in these firearms.

I've never used BP but that would be more authentic with that bullet and Caliber. I hope to start pouring a few in the next few days but the grass needs mowing and the fence needs mending but I'll post as soon as I get some poured up
