Yes they did, and they can still be found on the used gun circuit.

They are as useful and the 3" barreled S&W Model 65.

The closest thing to a one sized fits all occasion gun there is...:thumb:

Last summer I bought a M85 from CDNN. I saw it in a catalog and as I recall it was 287.00 for a 3" barrel stainless and blued M85's for about 10 or 20 less. Had never owned a center fire revolver and this looked like a good deal. Got the stainless one and really liked it after a couple of rage sessions it began to have trigger problems and eventually sent it to Taurus cost free. It was fixed and back to me in about 2 weeks. The gun is fun to shoot really accurate. Wish now that I would have bought a blued one as well. It's to bad Taurus dropped the 3" I think its the perfect size. Later I bought a Ruger sp101 with the 4" barrel which is nice but I really like the Taurus better. Actually the M85 is more accurate than the sp101 for some reason, it could be me though

A lot of the three inch barrel runs are distributor specials, that never show up in the Taurus or Rossi catalogs.
