327 mag is a pretty sweet round with muzzle energy in the 40 caliber range (450-500 ft lbs). Downside is finding it and Aya price that you can afford to practice. Reloading would be the way to go IMHO if you already have a rig. The difference between that and 38 spcl (even at +p) is quite a lot!!

Do you own a 327?!?

It would work well and there is the advantage of using 32 Magnum or even subsonic 32 Long. I really don't see a downside to using the 327 that way. That said; I use a Colt Detective Special in 38.

I would not feel under gunned carrying a .327 mag for self defense.

They can be loaded from "mild to wild" so offer about as much versatility as it's larger cousin the .357 magnum.

Another .327 Federal and 327 fan.

The versatility of the .32s is matched only by the .357magnum/.38 Special branch of cartridges.

I went with the Taurus model 327 and the 85 gr. Federal JHP version for carry.
There are those for whom the 110gr.-115gr. JHPs rounds are just fine.

I also appropriated a Ruger GP-100 and a Ruger SP101 in that caliber as well to compliment each other and the Taurus 327. The SP-101 holds 6 rounds and can be a main gun with that 3" barrel it has.
