2nd outing of my 24/7 pro - The Good, The Bad and The Ugly

The Good :D

I took my pistol to the range yesterday to fire another 50 rounds thru it. One magazine functioned flawlessly and made me proud to own the 24/7 pro.

The Bad

Then, I found a problem with the other magazine that was causing some minor failure to feed issues (usually on the last round). Also, When I would try to put the magazine into the pistol with the slide in full battery (adding the reloaded 12th round back into the magazine) it gives me major resistance once it hits the top of the pistol or the bottom of the slide (It goes right in with the slide locked back) with it also sticking out 1/4 inch further than the mag that properly functions. This morning I called Taurus and they told me to send the magazine back to them so they could replace it.

The Ugly

Now with that said, I decided to shoot another 50 rounds. Since I didnt have any more than the 50 WWBs I brought with me I had to buy some ammo from the range which was Magtech 230 Gr. FMJ ball. I had no problem with 46 rounds but had misfires with 2 rounds not firing at all and the other 2 shooting after about 2-4 trigger pulls. So needless to say I dont think Ill be buying anymore Magtech ammo

I understand, you must be a little frustreted huh? There is nothing quite so uncomfortabe as the knowledge that your gun may not fire! I hate the feeling and cannot rest until I fix it somehow. I hope you get to the bottom of it and will be interested to hear what happens. By the way, I have used a lot of Range ammo (magtech) and have not had any prob's so it may not be the ammo. Anyway, best of luck to you and I hope your back out firing away very soon. :)
Did you clean the mag? Did you take it apart and reassemble? Believe it or not simple stuff like that will make a difference.

Shoot what your gun likes, WWB. Many guns are picky about ammo and it will vary from gun to gun, manufacturer to manufacturer.

I cleaned it pretty well, I didnt see any more grease on the inside so Ill see what happens with the new mag and post the results here.
Good Luck. Hope the new one is better.
Sorry to hear about your probs. Don't give up hope yet the 24/7 are great guns. I use magtech ammo all the time and have never had any issues. For practice ammo its seems to be the most accurate and is one of the better priced ammo's out there. Good luck and keep us updated on how long it takes customer service to get you a new mag.
was it brand new when this happened? did not break it in by putting a few hundred through it?

I put about 150 thru it. the other mag broke in but that one only got worse
I noticed one of the mags for my 24/7 45acp was "pinched" closer together where the bullets leave the mag. I had failures to feed with it. The bullet would nose dive into the ramp about two or three times for each full mag.

I used a caliper to measure the spacing of the good mag, and also the spacing of my two PT145 mags. All were within a 3-4 thousandths of an inch of each other. The bad mag was pinched .020" (twenty thousandths) tighter. It was one side of the mag that was bent over too far. I took a pliers and spread it open to match the other mags. I have not been to the range yet, but I expect it will function flawlessly like the others now.
Speaking of magazine problems, at the shop today we had two different 24/7 which would not drop the mags. Has this been a recurring problem?

WHen I was shopping around before I bought my 24/7, I noticed a couple of 24/7's that had difficulty with dropping mags. Fortunately, the one that I ordered did not have that problem.
Sound like you just got a bad magazine, other than that how did you like the gun.

I have 24/7 pro .45 and ive put 350 rounds thru it, I had about 3-4 misfire's but I just pulled the trigger a second time and the round went off, maybe just a few lite primers?? But other than that noproblems what so ever,I love this wepon!!!!!! :D
I love it. Its truly an amazing pistol for the money. I absolutely love the recovery time, its really a fast shooter
