Has anyone had the pleasure/displeasure of firing a hefty 200gr. rd from a pt740slim ? I might buy one and just want some honest input..

180gr would be my limit especially from a short barrel. I'll admit to being curious. Are you buying commercial ammo (rare?) or are you loading this yourself? Either way is it due to limited availability of other options or the quest for the magic bullet?! If you are loading please post data. If it is commercial ammo and you have chrono or further data - please post!!

That bullet you mentioned above is heavier than the typical "heavy" .40 cal bullet. A typical "heavy" for the .40 is 180gr, while slightly lighter bullets such as the 165gr and even the light 135gr might be better in your PT740.

I prefer the 165gr for my PT740 and S&W Shield .40.

Not unless you like pain. If you want bullets that heavy, buy a .45 ACP. I'm just saying.......
