I see post in this forum about 1911 OWB holsters quite often,For what it's worth Glock makes a combat sport holster (belt slide) that sells for about $14.00 one size fits all because there made for Glock , but they will fit your PT 1911 like a glove and they keep them very close to the body.
There made of vinyl, i know it sounds rinky dink but there a great holster for not much investment, if you dont like it you can all ways offer it up on the Pay it Forward Forum

Your right the holster is ambi, just pictures of both sides, If you look close at the pictures you can see there are cut outs in the belt slide slots so you can cant the pistol or cut them out to fit a wider belt.
