There is a discussion going on in another thread about using Mec-Gar 15 round magazines in the GX2. I searched Met-Gar's website but they do not have any listings for magazines that fit the GX2. I emailed them and was told they do not have a magazine that fits the GZ2. Not being satisfied with that answer based on what I read here on the forum and seeing that Taurus offers a 15 round magazine on their website in the accessories section, I did a bit of research.
I found the SKU number is 358-0038-01 on their website and I Googled that number. There is a somewhat limited supply of them available at various places, the best price I found was on Optics Planet at $28.49 with free shipping. If you visit their website and zoom in on the pictures you can see that they are stamped with Met-Gar made in Italy. so I am not sure why Met-Gar told me they did not have any, but if you are looking for a better magazine and more capacity they are available.

It makes me wonder if these aren't designed/tested for the Taurus, so they don't make that claim so they aren't held accountable if they don't work. When you look that part number up on their web site, what do they say they are intended for?

 

I put all of the part numbers, SKU numbers and UPC numbers for the 15 round magazine in the search function on the Mec Gar web page they all came back with nothing found.
Maybe when they show up there will be a Mec Gar part number on them or the packaging. If I learn anything I will post it.

 

I suppose it's possible that Mec-Gar made these mags under an exclusive contract directly for Taurus and never made them available to the general public? The ones you see at online retailers were probably ordered directly from Taurus.

 

OK I received the 15 round magazines today, came packaged in Taurus labeled blister packs, they are stamped Mec-Gar made in Italy, no part number stamped on the magazine. Packaging labels shows Taurus logo along with the bull head, GX2 ITEM #: 358-0038-01.
They work as far as I can tell, fit is perfect, they drop out when release button is pushed and the slide release Lever/button is easier to push with them installed than when the 13 round magazines that came with the gun are installed.
I will take them to the range on my next visit and test them properly.

 

They jacked the price up on the site. Good to know they are out there. I got 3 15rd mags with my purchase.

I shot 25 rounds out of each new Mec-Gar magazines, both worked perfectly.

 

I contacted Mec-Gar several years ago because I was looking for Taurus followers. They told me that they were under contract with Taurus and could not sell any parts of the magazine up and including the complete magazine .
