Saw one at my local shop for $415 new. Seriously thinking about it. Felt great in the hand. The only thing I'm not sure of is the "Wonder Finish" (heat treated stainless steel). Anyone have any experience with it?

I have a 10mm Witness and I absolutely love it. I bought it brand spanking new from my dealer for $329.00 otd (they had it in inventory for some time). It shoots as well as any of my other 10mm's and looks cool too. Like Mavracer said, they are very durable and hold up nicely. I consider this one of my best all time purchases for "Bang-4-the-Buck" and for $200.00 you can buy another caliber upper for a quick swap out. I found that www.reedsammo.com has some great prices on EAA and Ron seems like a good fellow.

I have the EAA Witness in 9mm with the wonder finish, works nice and looks great. I don't think you could do much to hurt the finish.

$415 is a very good price for new!

Actually, the Wonder Finish is a Silver Grey Tennifer surface hardening treatment, similar to Glocks Finish, according to last years EAA brochure.

I have quite a few of the Tanfoglio CZ Clones in my practical collection and like them quite a bit.

My latest one is a Wonder Finished .45 Witness, bought new in February 2004, that compliments my older 1992 vintage Blued .45 Witness, which I still shoot.

The only thing I've had to do to the newer Wonder Finished .45 is to polish the barrel underlug which was a bit oversize and rubbing on the Frame Barrel Supports. Other than that, it's performance has been flawless and accuracy has been excellent!

Some Glock 21 and XD holsters will fit it.

For some further info, you may wish to visit the Clone Section of CZForums, where I also moderate.

Was wondering if EAA makes them in Turkey or do they have a plant in the Czheck?
The EAA Witness Pistols are made by Tanfoglio of Italy, and are imported into the USA by EAA Corp. There are also other manufacturers, such as Sarsilmaz of Turkey, that make very similar Pistols under Liscense from Tanfoglio and also use some Tanfoglio Parts in that manufacture. The Sarsilmaz Pistols are currently imported into the USA by Armalite Corp.

The IMI Baby Eagle Series Pistols, imported by Magnum Research, are of a co-operative Tanfoglio design.

A new player in the game is ARMSCOR, who now assembles and finishes 9mm and .40 S&W framed versions from Tanfoglio supplied parts in excahnge for the ARMSCOR 1911 clones, marketed by Tanfoglio in Europe. The ARMSCOR CZ Clones are imported into the USA by Centerfire Systems.

Many/most of the Tanfoglio design based pistols will use/interchange either Mec-Gar or Sabatti made magazines of the same design.

Actually, the 9mm is my favorite cartridge. Although I do have handguns in .45. Actually, I have handguns in every major caliber except 10mm and 38 Super. ;)
