    Taurus 617--.357 magnum

I was at the range a few days ago and re-acquainted myself with this revolver--what a sweet shooter! I like the balance, the seven-round capacity and the general feel of it in the hand. It has enough mass to it so that shooting it doesn't involve any punishment to the palms. I used to have a Smith & Wesson 340 Flyweight and just couldn't take the punishment. I'm not saying there was anything wrong with that model but being the nature of the beast it was just not fun to shoot. And if you have to cringe anticipating the kick-back then there is no point in having such a light weight revolver--though I do know it's designed for concealed carry, hence the light weight. Thank you Taurus for a job well done. BTW--I picked it up used about a year ago for $300. From the looks of it, it hadn't been fired. I'll be firing it on a more consistent basis from now on.

The 617 is a fine revolver. It is heavier than the average snubbie but the seven round
capacity and the attributes that you mentioned make it a good choice for concealed
carry. I love my Model 617 and I would recommend it for anyone looking for a reliable
revolver for concealed carry that holds more than the standard five rounds that most
.357/.38 Specials hold. By the way, you got a great deal at $ 300.00 for your Model
    617!

I love mine too. Mine is on vacation in Miami. It shot loose and started spitting lots of lead at about 1000, .38 and 150, .357. I think mine is an exception and not the rule. I have heard of very few issues with the 617. Mine super accurate for a snubby and I can't wait to have it back.

I've had a Taurus® Mdl 617SS2 for the last 10 years and it is my favorite handgun. About 9000 rounds through it & still going strong.

Very nice handgun. I have one in SS and it is my favorite revolver. I too like the feel of it and the mass makes it pleasant to shoot even with hot loads.
