Took my "new" used 617 to the range today. It did very well. I only had 38 special ammo on hand so the recoil was quite manageable. In fact I also took my 905 along (9mm with stellar clips) and it had more kick than the 617. I shouldn't be surprised since the 617 weighs 24.5 oz vs 22.2 oz for the 905. Anyway, I'm extremely please with the 617 and think it's well worth the $300 I paid for it. I put 50 rounds through it and if I had any more to spare I would have shot it also. I am waiting for 500 rounds of 38 Special I have on order from Freedom Munitions. Can't wait...

You got a good deal on your Model 617, congratulations! The extra round is a good trade
off versus the extra weight the 617 packs because it it a well built snubbie. I love my Model
617 and you should as well.

Also--I forgot to mention that the trigger had a very positive feel to it. After taking it back to the point where it would be in single action phase it was a smooth, crisp pull to strike the hammer. Anyway, as I stated, I'm really pleased with this revolver--it's a keeper!!

That is a good deal on the 617. I have never regretted buying mine. I would have liked a blued one but the only one I could find around here was the sst version.
