Finally picked up my new Taurus M405B!!!!!!!

Well, after several weeks of waiting, my 405 came in, and I picked it up yesterday afternoon. I am pretty excited! Where do I start. Well, as with every Taurus revolver I've handled, it is very solid, and locks up like it should. It has a little heft to it, and that's a good thing when shooting the .40 S&W in such a small firearm. It weighs a total of 31 oz loaded, but that's not bad when you consider that my Stoeger Cougar .40 weighs 40 oz loaded. It also has a great trigger -- both in S/A & D/A.

Other interesting points: My 405 came with the combat grips and not the ribber grips which are shown everywhere -- including the video of Bob Morrison showing the new Taurus line at the NRA show. Steve (stolivar) had said it was the same issue with his. I would like to know what the situation is with that.

Secondly my 405 arrived in a cardboard box, not a nice plastic one like my 851 came in. Is this along with the grip thing an economics issue with Taurus? I don't know. Also, the barrel is stamped simply, '.40', not .40 S&W as shown in all the images available to the public.

Those are small niggles though, because it looks like a very solid handgun. It is very nicely blued, and along with that, the sighting plane is matte, while the rest of the revolver is polished. All in all, not bad at all. By the way, I paid $339 + tax for my 405. I can't wait to shoot it -- I will post results in due time!!!!!!!

Very nice. It looks just like my 617, and is likely the same size. I have a Tucker Texas Heritage IWB that fits it perfectly and is very comfortable.

Congrats on a really nice gun !
