    856 Defender

Anyone seen the new 856 Defender in a store yet? Or is it supposed to hit the market later this year?

From a Taurus marketing guy .... "the M856 Defender is tricking into the retailers"

Personally, I have yet to see/hold one ...but I am anxious to do so!

I’ve liked the 856 but haven’t purchased one, but I dont think I would be able to pass up this one. A compact 6 shot 38 with a 3 inch barrel checks a lot of boxes on the ideal carry Revolver wish list.

Ditto. All the boxes get checked off on the 856 3" barrled gun. Now... if we see them around here is another thing.

I heartily agree, and as an aside, it was the interest that the TA.net forum had in a 3" 6 shot 38 sp that spurred Taurus USA to offer the M856 Defender - it's OUR revolver!

I think that the new Taurus 856 Defender is definitely going on my revolver wish list 😎. In watching the video, included in one of the posts, there are two things I know for sure. 1) the guy needs to have his bipolar medication adjusted and 2) the 856 Defender is clearly a six shot revolver 😜. I all seriousness, I'm intrigued by nearly all of the Defender's features! I would most likely get the UltraLight version in the matte SS. .38 Special shouldn't be too punishing out of a 16 oz revolver. It's interesting that Taurus is adding a Hogue grip as OEM. It pretty much looks like the MonoGrip. That grip does leave the backstrap exposed i.e. in direct contact with the shooter's palm. The felt recoil with +P ammo might be an issue for some. I'm not terribly concerned. If I was, I'd go straight for the 30 oz all SS version 😉. The MSRP at $425 seems a bit high and I hope to do better at my LGS.
