This looks interesting! I also wish they'd have released a 656 357, but this would be a fun gun to replace my current 856 as a woods carry gun.

As far as I'm concerned anytime a 3" barreled revolver is introduced it's time to celebrate. The 3" is my favorite barrel length and I feel it's a good compromise for carry. I have an Ruger SP101 in .327 with a 3" barrel, a Ruger Security Six in .357 with a 3" barrel, a Ruger GP100 in .44 special with a 3" barrel and my newest, a Kimber K6s in .357 also with the 3" barrel. While I already have a Taurus 856 in 2", I think the 3" version would be a fantastic addition. I have to thank Taurus for listening to their fans. Now for a 617 with a 3" barrel!

Nice move but I’m happy with my Ruger SP101 Wiley Clapp Model.

Sub $300, I'd have already found one on line if they could be found. $425 put it in "probably one of these days" status. 38 Special +P is a darn good round.

All in all, an exciting addition. I agree that I hope they add a 3" .357 as well. Right now, the only choices for that are Ruger ($$) Kimber ($$$) Colt ($$$) and S&W ($$$$). Okay, there are a fair number of choices, just no reasonable ones.

Taurus and Rossi have both in the past sold 3" barreled revolvers. These have mostly in the past been special Black Friday offerings at large box stores like Academy, in the Taurus M85 and the Rossi 351-03. The Black Friday offerings were too good for even a poor boy to pass up.

Is it available anywhere yet, or just announced?

Based on their MSRP of $4xx.00, I'd think that in 18-24 months you'll be able to find them online and maybe at gunshows for sub $300. My 605 was bought for under $250, my 856 for $224, and 85 for $250 with sales and doesn't include rebates I got on them. I don't see why the 3" model wouldn't eventually be the same.

As soon as I saw the announcement I facebook messaged my local FFL about it. He replied that the 3" is not showing up now at any distributor he deals with, only the 2".

(Yes, I am interested in getting one. Years back I almost had a 3" S&W Model 13. I had picked it up and it was perfect in my hand. I thought "I don't need anything else". This ain't that, but it's as close as I'm likely to get.)

NOOOOOO!! Was so excited when I saw this on Taurus site but it's 35 ounces! It weighs as much as a 686! It goes from 22 oz. to 35 oz. with an extra inch of barrel? And it's still a .38 not a .357? What gives? They DO have an ultra-lite but that is 16 ounces - TOO light for me. I can't win

I'm hoping that 35 is a misprint and it's 25? Not much chance of that..?
