As for carrying it, if you found a good holster, and used hotter 44 special loads, I see no reason why it wouldn't be a nice conceal carry gun. Bulky, sure, but you could pull it off.
I'm with TTG. I would need an interesting dare to fire full house .44 Magnums in that revolver. Firm grip and plenty of experience would be called for. But nice heavy .44 Special for self defense, sure!

    Congratulations; that's a beast of a wheelgun!

I don't know Officer. That home invader left my house like he forgot he left the oven on. Something must of spooked him.

My son has one (4"). At first I was concerned about it being so lightweight (for .44mag), but we are not generally recoil sensitive around here.
The M44 weighs more than the M444, but the M44 has more recoil.
The M444 is a larger/beefier frame, and the shape is different than the M44, especially the grip frame.....it's like the 'Raging' series.
My 13yr old grandson shoots the M444 with no problem.
If we shoot lighter loads [like .38spl in a .357mag.....44spl in a .44mag, etc.], well, we don't. We just load down the .357mag/.44mag brass.....
    I hate 'cylinder rings' !!!
I really like the M444 and will soon get one in the longer barrel....maybe both, the 6.5".....and the 8" [to go with my M608 8"].
I think you are really gonna like yours.

My gosh, that just looks painful. Takes the fun out of shooting.

Just one leeeeetle nit ... If that's your bedside gun, do you have asbestos blankets?
