FWIW, a barrel/cylinder gap of .004-.008" is considered ideal with many manufacturers.

Does the cylinder exhibit endshake? If so, how much?

That's a bit tight. I've had guns with .002 that worked fine. When you get that tight the ammo you use can make a difference as to whether it binds or not. When I have guns redone I'll request a .003" gap and even with lead bullets and "dirty" powders I don't have a problem.

If it were mine, I'd be loathe to do anything about it. If I did, I'd just rent a barrel facing tool and take off just a smidgen....and Bayou52's question about end-shake is pertinent. Any fore-and-aft movement in the cylinder changes everything. My comments assume there's none. If there is, measure the gap while holding the cylinder to the rear by hand.
