So over the weekend I picked up a 65 and a 856. I was going through the two manuals the 65 states that it has a lifetime warranty but the 856 states it only has a one year warranty, what gives. I was under the impression that the lifetime warranty was one of the big sellers for the brand. Why has Taurus done this ?

I just bought a G 2 SS and it says that it still has the life time warranty. It was manufactured in 2017.
Will this eventually be applied to all Taurus models ?
This is something new that they're doing with all new production firearms as of 2017, supposedly because they have since improved the quality of their firearms.
Keep in mind that this only applies to new production firearms, all models produced prior to 2017 are still backed by a Lifetime Warranty, regardless of their date of manufacture. (In other words, if you bought a newly manufactured 605, it's still covered.)
Just as well, Taurus' so-called "Lifetime Warranty" was always something of as misnomer since any firearms which are no longer manufactured by Taurus are only covered for a few years or until their supply of replacement parts runs out, which knowing Taurus, isn't very long at all seeing as they're typically out of stock when it comes to their supply of replacement parts for current firearms.
