    Taurus 605 Hammer shroud or ... ?

Does anyone make a hammer shroud for the Taurus 605 line of revolvers? I've got a 605 in .357 that I am planning on carrying in my overcoat, but I have found that the hammer catches on the inside pocket.

I'd rather not have the hammer bobbed by a gunsmith as, with the exception of carrying it in this coat, I like the ability to thumb-cock the hammer.

If one is not available, does anyone make a bobbed hammer that I could simply swap in and out?

    Thanks all.

I have a 605 too. I've never seen the options you're looking for, although I'm no expert. My suggestion would be a pocket holster. It would be a lot less cheaper then modifying the gun, and should at least make the snagging less of a problem.

Due to the rising cost of ammo. A warning shot will NOT be fired!!

Thanks for the reply. I actually tried the pocket holster route, but found it printed real bad and the hammer would also snag when wearing bluejeans.

You actually need the pocket holster that has the extended backing that goes toward the outside of the pocket, "makes it look like a wallet in there". Even my little 905, and PT22 print in tight pants, but look like nothing with the right pocket holster. Just my opinion, and you paid just what it is worth.

I really do not have a suggestion for a maker. I got mine from a leather maker at a gun show. There is a list of holster makers in the Concealed Carry section of this forum. I am sure many make what I am talking about. I know I have seen pictures of them.

After having some real difficulties with using a lighter Wolff mainspring on my own 605 (I posted this, and to summarize, the spring tension was too light and I got too many FTFs.) I wouldn't bob mine.

I would think the hammer fall is going to be way lighter, even with the factory spring. It's cheap to play with the springs, but getting a new hammer might be a problem Just MHO after playing around with hammer strikes and trigger pulls

We bought a spurless for the wife. No snag issues.

Taurus makes a hammer for the 605 without the spur eg my 605 ssch and I have practiced firing it thru a old jacket pocket and it worked just fine check with them and order that hammer if possible but as mentioned above springs may be a issue.
