    Removing Taurus 605 grips

My uncle just bought a brand new Taurus 605 with factory rubber grips on it. We're trying to remove them to see if a pair of wood grips I have will work on the gun or not. However I see no screws or separation in the grips in order to remove them. How can I remove the grips without tearing them up? Thanks in advance.

I do not have a 605 - but others on here said Taurus made a change from screw mounted grips to using some kind of pin arrangement. Hopefully someone with experience with this method will chime in soon. Good luck.

Look on the bottom of the grip, should be an allen head screw holding them on, back it out and slide the grip off.................
If it has the new Bulls head grips, there should be a roll pin that you can see, knock it out,
going from right to left, and slide the grip off...................
    Hope that helps!

Here is a picture of the grips. There is no screw in them or pin that I can see. There is a small hole of the grip on towards the bottom on each side, but nothing it in and you can see all the way thru the hole. I can not for the life of me get the grip to come away from the frame, theres like plugs it looks like going from one side of the grip to the other going through the frame, the more i pry on it for more it's trying to tear.

The hole you are seeing has a roll pin in it. Take a small punch and carefully knock the roll pin through and out the other side. At that point the grip will slide off.
I just installed this same grip on my 2009 model 605.

Also note that several of us have been told by Taurus customer service that removal of the grip voids the warranty. There have been several threads regarding this in this forum in the last month or so.

Djh is exactly right. A roll pin is a hollow compression pin and this is why you are looking through it. Prying on the grip without driving the pin out will only serve to damage the grip.

    This. So be careful.

Also any wood grips you buy will have to be modified to work with the new model of 605 (which has the same frame style as the M85).

Thanks for the reply. I'm guessing by reading these reviews, screw on grips would not work on this gun, without modifications. Which means there's no reason for me to try taking the grips on there off. Did not know there was a pin in there, as you can't see one at all by looking at it. Thanks for the help guys.
