Ghosthorse the slide is froze in place unlike the first time it locked up. I could wiggle it side to side and in fact get it to move about a half inch rearward then push it back.

777Driver I was beating the snot out of the slide with the pin out. It's almost like the slide is welded to the rails without even building up any heat.

Like I said I've really got no use for the gun anymore, just hate to let it go like that because I'm cheap. If Taurus offered me a box of 9mm I'd be happy. I'll contact Taurus this week and see what happens.

If they decide to replace it, they may well go ahead and offer a G3...the retail prices on that model are coming down to almost the G2 level.

Don't settle for a box of ammo. Get a Spectrum, G2C, or maybe even a G3 like Czechbikr says.
When I had it, my 738 was always my problem child.
At first it would always jam on the last round in the magazine. After a long break-in period, with many cycles, it started working ok.
Then about a year later it started having random extraction issues.
I'm very happy with my G2C replacement, but if you can get a G3 in exchange, I think I'd do that.
Then again, for a carry weapon the G2C is probably a better choice.

Woah. How did none of us think to mention that until now? Way to go, 230JHP!

I had that issue with my TCP a few years ago at the 500 round count area. There was a problem with the frame where the takedown pin went threw the frame hole area. Taurus replaced the firearm with another TCP. I wonder if the TCP can handle a lot of rounds as they are very small guns. Still have the replacement and do not shoot it much these days. I really like the TCP. Shoots very good and a nice trigger for a pocket gun.

Chris, make sure the recoil spring and pin are not out of place. Also, if you can remove the take down pin , have you done that. That should release the barrel. Forgive if that has already been tried. I have not read the other replys.
