It was actually further, about 20 feet away. It was laying on it's side in some frozen mud.

And now, in the event of a recurrence, you will have a reference point to start from (of course you'll have to keep angling in mind :O)

    Glad you found it though!

If you decide to buy a new recoil spring plug a solid one won't work on the Taurus unless you replace the guide rod with a G.I. guide rod. Also no need to order and wait forever through Taurus, you buy from Brownells, Midway, EGW, Harrison Design etc...

Yeah, I am thinking about getting a new guide rod too just because. I just wasn't sure how interchangeable they are.

I was thinking, well, if he don't find it before next snowfall, he'll sure as shootin' find it first time he runs the lawn mower come next spring. 'Course, it won't be serviceable when he does find it . . .

Taurus did use some proprietary parts in the PT 1911 but that was the extractor, firing pin plunger, spring. The recoil spring plug and guide rod shouldn't be any problem to replace.

Poor thing! It was probably laying there, screaming at the top of it's little lungs, going "Heeeeeeeeeyyyyyyyyyyy...I'm right HEEERRREEE"! Nice pistol, none the less.
