Having my PT 1911 9mm changed to 38 Super

I picked up a Sig 1911 38 Super barrel, and am having it installed in my PT 1911 9mm.
    It should be done soon.
Anyone out there have a barrel installed? Do you recall the labor cost?

!) why would you possibly want such an out dated obsolete caliber as that?
    2) is the Sig barrel ramped?
and no I have not made that change so can't help you there my friend.

Hopefully, the resident 38 Super 1911 expert will weight in on this most interesting subject. Sig barrel in a PT1911? External extractor Sig? I will be observing this thread very closely, 38 Super PT1911s are a subject of much interest to me. Please carry on.

    What's wrong with 38 Super? I have 4 PT1911s in that caliber.

    1. Only someone as old as a farhors or older than a state would know how old 38 Super is. Obsolete, like beauty is in the eyes of the beer holder.

    2. The original barrel was ramped, so I just assumed the new barrel should be.

    3. Who is the resident 38 Super ex-spurt?

    4. Thank you Kruiser, for coming to my defense

    5. So basically, no one has ever rebarreled a 1911? I would think it wouldn't matter 38 Super to 9mm or 45 to 45 et el

Lots of different choices here. ramped vs non ramped barrels, blending in with the frame properly, changing mags for 38 super as the rounds are about 3/16" longer, etc.

IMHO, olfarhors is a close to a 38Super expert on TA, I know his wisdom has helped me along the path to 38 Super enlightenment, and ownership. Instead of buying and fitting a separate 38 Super barrel for use in USPSA, with his guidance, I bought a pair of PT1911s in 38 Super. I had to bide my time on the gun auction sites, but eventually great deals showed up. This can happen for you, as well.

Semi Autoes are just a passing fad!!!
I only gots one Pt1911 in 38 Super.
its a Stainless in dual finish, polished flats and matte rounds and It may be the best one out of the box as far as the PT's go.
Got this thing for some crazy price from CDNN when Taurus was discontinuing the caliber--I think it was a tad below 400 bucks ?
should have picked up a blue one as well, the blue ones were the older shiny Taurus finish.
they even had the gold Blingy versions in Blue or stainless as well as the regular ones, I think the gold versions were like 20 bucks more?
here she is wearing a Fiber optic front sight, new grips an the target is the first range date with her.

well the reason that I asked about the barrel was the PT 9 MM barrel of course is ramped, the 38 Super is not, so amy need some frame modification?
not sure about the Sig barrel, other than that and checking lock up and paly in the bushing I don't think it should be much of a problem ? but then again I ain't no stinkin gunsmith!
