Looking for a threaded barrel recommendation

I have a newer 1911 and want to put a threaded barrel in it. Can anyone recommend a stainless or polished threaded barrel that will work in the PT1911 with no fitting or minor fitting required?

I'm not sure you could buy another barrel for any other 1911 that you could guarantee you could just drop in - but I would check Cylinder and Slide. They're supposed to be the best.

What about buying a replacement barrel and then threading it yourself? Could that be done? If you mess it up at least you have the original barrel.

But uh-oh... will Taurus even sell you a replacement barrel?

You will have to fit the barrel or pay someone to fit it. Many of the so called drop in barrels require fitting, once in a while you will get one that drops in but I would be willing to bet your factory barrel would shoot more accurate. Also if you want it threaded and fit a government model it will need a 6" barrel, may be able to cut it down some.
