The Hornady XTP is an excellent load. The newer FTX load may be even better. Luckygunner test results were:
XTP vel-910 penetration in bare gel 14.1 expansion .39
FTX vel-910 penetration in bare gel 13.2 expansion .52
A bit less penetration but a lot more expansion.

No ofense here at all, but as to the Norma ammo.
they are really, really, really late to the game of a solid copper hollow point that expnds dramatically and at lower speed.
Barnes has been producing these for years now as well as a few other companies.
I am sure the norma works just fine as long as it functions in the particular weapon, but hionestly now its NOT anything new or revolutionary.
matter of fact Fiocchi manufactures a 92 grain all copper hollow point that is listed at 1400 fps from a 4 inch barrel and for me has been quite nice in the shorter barel 9 MM, of course I load all my own High Speed Wireless Security System components and so i got more of these all copper bullets (Fiocchi, Barnes, COP than hopefully i will ever need.
anyway, just a FYI moment on waiting for certain ammo.
I think the Fiocchi runs about 28-30 bucks for a box of 50 by the way.
they only chamber this in 9 MM by the way.

"The real answer is more bullets!" Me, 2001
Being a cheapskate, I bought a Value Pack of Remington UMC 88gr. hollowpoint. The box of 100 was $35 and change. They go bang every time I pull the trigger.

There are "four boxes" that can be employed to resist the downfall of America, the ballot box, the soap box, the jury box and, lastly, the ammo box.
ARX works for me. Had to shoot a wild dog with one. Very effective.
I'm holding out for a depleted uranium sabot round...
I have not researched Defense AMMO for 380 (or for that matter the 9MM I use). I do use a Hollow Point for the 9MM.
Anyway, I just wanted to bring up a point - seems I remember a U-Tube or something that did penetration and scatter testing of 380 AMMO. As I remember or maybe concluded on my own --- just as good to use FMJ for penetration and fact not much scatter on 380 AMMO.
Just presenting as Food for Thought as I am not up on all the AMMO available.
That said, for my part I would just use the FMJ if I was gonna carry the Spectrum 380 (not likely I will carry it - 9mm makes makes sense to me). Anyway, could practice the 380 and feel better about reliability with the cheaper FMJ.
