    2 questions about pt-111 g2

First, I want to replace my front sight with a long bead truglo that has been mentioned in the millennium forum. I emailed truglo to find out what size the hole on the sight for installation. My response was:

    Thank you for this email.

Due to the nature of this mount and recoil forces applied, the fiber-optic installation will not withstand this use.

Do not install this sight on your Taurus PT-111.

We appreciate your interest in TRUGLO products.

    Shoot safely,

So I didnt get the thread size. Sure alot of people using that setup and I would think if you loctite the screw, it wouldnt be a problem.

Second, Being the mental midget I am, I wanted to loosen the screw of my rear sight and move my poi to the left because the adjustment on the sight wasent enough. Well the unthinkable happened, the screw took a dive into the shag carpeting. I would think I can get a replacement from Taurus but in the meantime would like to get one to hold me over until Taurus comes through. (I hope)

Anybody know the size screw I need? I may be able to take in the slide to my local ace and find the fit but not sure about the length.

    Thanks for any assistance.

UPDATE: Went to the Taurus website and found out they had chat. Explained the situation and they are sending me 2 via fedx for free. they said 7 to 10 days. Would still like to pick up one locally just in case so if anybody knows the dimensions, it would be appreciated.

I doubt you will find a screw with that fine of a thread pitch at an Ace or any local hardware store.
Gun owners who want to tinker with their firearms really should get the correct tools and screw sets from Brownells or elsewhere first.

This might be a stupid long shot, but has anyone ever tried using the screws that are used in laptop's chassis? My mom scrapped hers and I salvaged all the usable stuff off it, while I was doing that I noticed that the screws were a lot like the sight screw on my g2. Like I said, long shot, but maybe worth a look. Keep in mind there are lots of sizes in a laptop. If I get a chance I may check myself tonight, but probably not...

If you have a Harbor freight in your area, just pick up a retrieving magnet for a few bucks and it will find the screw in the shag carpet

Walk around the area barefoot, you'll find that screw pretty quickly after that.

I would just vacuum the rug and then inspect the bag.

So, I may be on to something here, I pulled the front site off my G2. I also got out the little baggie that held the leftover screws from a laptop I was tearing apart. As tiny as both screws are, I was able to hold them both up and compare the threads. When I put both together the space between them disappeared, there was no light at all. I threaded the laptop screw into the site and even though the screw was too long for the site, it threaded all the way in. I would try to take some pictures of these things, but I doubt they would come out. Hope this helps.
