Double pictures in posts

.
Has anyone figured out yet why we get two pictures sometimes when posting?
One being the original picture and then an attachment photo below.
I can find no common denominator as to why a particular photo will or will not post properly.
If it ends up being a double photo I just don't bother and delete the preview altogether.
That happens about 50% of the time to me.
There must be a way around it.
I tried deleting the attachment before posting but then I end up with a blank post. I see that fairly often.
Any help or even a clue would be appreciated.
Besides being a waste of bandwidth it gets kind of frustrating at times.
Thank you...........I know this is a first world problem but hey, I live in a first world..........

I'm blind in one eye so that might be redundant.

Close the other one... you won't see double pictures anymore, I bet.

You are using the "insert image" option to add your images, correct?

I have same problem, it comes and goes. I am using the insert image icon. As the op mentioned above I get two images, one a normal uploaded image and a second attachment version. Been happening a few months now. Requires a bit of advanced attachment editing to get the second dup image to go away, but keep the first image. Running Windows 10 using Firefox browser (which auto updates ).

I get around it, when I remember, by doing the "insert Image" and then once it shows in the window, hit enter a couple of times to move the cursor down away from the end of the attach bracket. It has to be sucking up a lot more bandwidth with the dupes.

All you need to do is go to "GO ADVANCED" when that comes up scroll down to manage attachments, click on that, when the next window opens, click on remove attachments than close that window and then submit post. Now, if you start out in "GO ADVANCED" then all you have to do is scroll down to manage attachments, click, then click on remove attachments, close window and submit post. All done.

Yes, I am using the 'insert image' to post them.
Sometimes it works, sometimes it does not and I get the additional attachment photo.
I have several images I use a lot like when I welcome a new member and it always works.
Other images will never work.
I have tried doing that advanced click on attachments spin in a circle 3 times and pray method
and that does not work. I end up with a blank post.
If I knew what was causing it I could avoid the problem hopefully.
There just seems to be no common denominator to the problem.
And it gets frustrating. And I'm old. Doctor says I shouldn't get frustrated....

ON EDIT:

I forgot to mention one thing.
I can tell ahead of time if it is going to work or not.
If I pick the image I want and click on "upload files", if it shows " in the reply box
it will work properly when I post it.
If I do the same thing and it shows a small version of the actual image in the reply box it will not work and I get a double image.

That's the way I used to get around it but it no longer works for me, it just deletes both pics. Gifs don't show up at all, when I post them with chrome. I can see them in my post but it comes up blank for everyone else, apparently.
