When my daughters were young, they used to like to "help" me reload. They'd setup cases for me to feed into the progressive loader. Likewise bullets. It was no distraction, and we enjoyed it.

They look great! I used to cast for .32 ACP, but haven't done any for years. How many cavities in the mold?

Outstanding! I've heard of some ranges where the policy is "if it hits the ground, it's ours". Even if it came out of your gun!

Now I always ask before becoming a customer at a range.

I worried about this too, before getting an auto-loader. I used to shoot at an outdoor range, and everyone reloaded. You never found brass lying about. After I started shooting an auto-loader at...

Welcome back. I think your prices look pretty good. You can probably get the price of powder and primers down some by mail ordering in bulk. Casting your own bullets can save a ton, but it's a lot...

With all due respect, I wouldn't own a powder thrower that has the reliability attributed to this one in this forum. Does anyone want to suggest some alternatives?

That's a bit worrysome. If you used the brass case to establish a tare weight and then added powder, would you get a decent reading of the powder weight?

It definitely goes against the grain, but the justification given isn't totally hairbrained. If they just must do this, they need to be extremely careful about clearing the weapon afterward.

I've done well with Magnus bullets, but they're frequently out of stock. Montana Gold Bullet is also good for FMJ, but I don't think they have plated.

Thanks, guys. Lapping sounds like an option for me to try. I'll also have to think about trying a mold release product first, with the understanding that I may end up doing some cleaning if that's...

Thanks, Flash. The mold is steel and is properly vented. I've tried ladling and using the pot spout. The bullets have always stuck, when the mold is cool (relatively!), hot, and very hot.

    Getting the bullets out

I just finished casting 2000 .38 SP wadcutters. As always, the biggest slowdown for me was getting the bullets out of my mold (4 cavity, Lyman, steel). What are your favorite tricks for this?

So if Bullseye is best, why use Red Dot?
  19. Re: Loaded my first 100 rounds... have a question

+1. If you're going to do any amount of reloading you're going to accumulate some rounds that need to be re-done. So get the puller.

    Re: Wheel weights

I've had a wide range of experiences at tire shops (or my wife has- she's the big lead hunter in the family). Most of the big ones have contracts with lead recovery outfits, so they can't deal with...

Re: 20 for 20, almost: range report

The fact that the two that didn't fire also didn't want to eject suggests that the action wasn't working optimally, and that suggests that the charge isn't exactly right. Examine all of the rounds...

Re: So What Is Your Casting System?

    I use a Lee Production Pot and a 4 cavity steel mold for .38 . I have a 2 cavity mold for .32.

I won't try to talk anyone into casting. It's very cost effective, but I'm giving it up when my...

    Re: Taking the plunge.

I think the idea of using a slower powder is to allow you to burn more powder (= more energy) without exceeding peak allowable pressure. It gives a sustained high pressure rather than a sharp peak.

Thanks for the clarification. If it won't chamber, then there's no harm in it.

    Re: Taking the plunge.

You could probably use Bullseye for hot .357 magnum loads. You can certainly use it for light target loads. However, for the hot loads, I think most people prefer a slower powder. I use 2400 on the...
