Thumbs up Just got a R98 .22 4" Rossi Revolver!

About 2 weeks ago I bought a Ruger LCR22, within the first hour the finish was flaking off, by the end of the 2 weeks the cylinder was flopping and spinning just by turning it by hand. The cylinder was super loose with about .008 of end shake right out of the box and about .012 barrel cylinder gap. What a piece of junk!!

I took it back to my gun guy who sent it back to Davidsons for a replacement, problem is there are no replacements to be had. I told him when I do get the replacement I want to sell it right off as these LCR's are junk.

He said he had a Rossi .22 revolver that I might be interested in, I said sure let me take a look!

What a fine piece of machinery! Solid lock up, tight barrel cylinder gap and beautiful finish! It was a no brainier! We worked out the deal and I walked out with my new Rossi!!

Can't wait to shoot it this weekend. The only thing I mildly dislike is the ribber grips.

Can anyone tell me if these Hogue grips will work on this gun? Amazon.com: Hogue Taurus Tracker Rubber Monogrip: Sports & Outdoors

As I understand it and from looking at my gun and the Trackers it appears they share the same compact style frame. If I can confirm the Tracker Hogues will work I will be ordering them ASAP!!

I will try and post some pics once I get her cleaned up (covered in the nasty brown sticky stuff right now).

No more light weight plastic/aluminum guns for me!! Solid heavy steel is the ONLY way to go!!!

OK found some other threads that confirmed that the Tracker Hogues will work. However I think I am now leaning to these from Taurus (they have a Taurus emblem but no biggie):

    Congrats!

I posted a brief video review of my R98 a few threads down, solid .22 for the price it seems.

Which of those grips will work? And can you supply any of those threads with confirmation? I've 'heard' they will work, but nothing in stone..

My bad, I'm actually hoping for a range report. I have the SS Tracker 992 and love it. I love the Rossi price tag better though. I'm interested in your opinion on the DA trigger as mine took some work to make it comfortable and it's still not as smooth as I'd like but overall it's a sweet wheelgun. Accurate and reliable thus far.

Yes watched your video right before I picked mine up! Nice work!

As you know, according to this thread (the one you posted in) https://www.taurusarmed.net/forums/ro...volvers-2.html Taurus/Rossi CS said if it fits the Tracker it will with the R98, I read another forum, that I can't find again, where someone confirmed that the Hogue 73000 WILL fit the R98. Maybe not in stone, but close enough to take a chance and order!

I don't really like the looks of the Hogues that much and like the more square look of the Taurus grips I linked above. The two Compact grips on the bottom of that page should work, the top Compact grips are the Ribbers like we have now, the ones below them look a bit larger and what I am going to order.

Yes my b/c gap is very tight, like you I could not really get in the .002 feeler gauge. Something to watch, but if anything over time the gap should get larger.

I did some dry fire with snap caps and my trigger is like butter! Smooth and light, way better than the junk LCR I had and in line with my S&W Model 19.

    NOTE! This thread: https://www.taurusarmed.net/forums/ta...-trackers.html

Confirms that the Compact 31230920 grips on this page Taurus International Manufacturing Inc do in fact fit the Tracker series of revolvers.

I am going to order one today! I will post pics once I have them!

EDIT: Ordered just now from Taurus. The CS guy was very nice but I made the mistake of telling him they were for a Rossi when he asked for my serial number. I had to argue (really more explain) with him to get him to place the order. I told him I heard for another guy that CS said these would work. He put me on hold and said he would so some checking.

Came back and said that the Rossi and Taurus frames are not necessarily the same blah blah blah and I would not be able to return them. I assured him I knew what was dong and to go ahead and place the order.

Now I just hope I am right!!! LOL
