I was reading the Rossi Settlement Agreement summary and called that 888 # to try to get some answers. My main questions are what is the actual defect and what actually happened. My hammer block is working correctly and can only see the hammer nose sticking the primer if the frame mounted trigger pin or the trigger base were to break due to a drop or blow that would allow the loose trigger to move forward. Any known facts? They wanted my info but told them no thanks since I'm covered by the "Enhanced Warranty"

I thought that I had ten minutes to waste with a Taurus chat this morning:

0224 PM) Candyce: Thank you. Please bear with me one moment.
(02:36:54 PM) Candyce: I see that your firearm is part of our Rossi Safety Notice. We are in the process of shipping out the FedEx shipping labels and you will receive the shipping label via USPS in your mail box.

(0233 PM) Has the company decided on a fix or replace yet and if the fix, are the parts on hand?
(02:38:05 PM) Taurus held my PT 145 SS for 15 months before I received a sub-standard replacement.
    (02:38:20 PM) I won't let that happen again/\

(02:39:18 PM) Candyce: Your firearm will be repaired unless the gunsmith thinks otherwise and I do not have the parts information at hand to verify parts availability once the gunsmith receives your firearm.

(02:39:51 PM) Estimated time frame for that to happen?
(02:40:04 PM) Once the gun is received at your shop?

(02:40:37 PM) Candyce: For the Rossi Safety Notice we do not have an ETA for repair timframes. I am truly sorry.

(02:40:55 PM) Is it still subject to additional court action?

(02:42:03 PM) Candyce: I am sorry but I do not have that information. The only information that I have is what has been provided on our Rossi Safety Notice website.

(02:42:41 PM) I'll be keeping my gun in my possession until such time as my questions can be answered...thanks for your time.

(02:43:05 PM) Candyce: Yes sir, I truly understand. Have a great day!

Neighbor got her R35102 back yesterday sent to Rossi in April under recall. Repair sheet shows trigger strut and hammer block replaced and 10 rds. of Win 38 spec. 130 gr. FMJ used in test firing. Another flyer included with return says that under grip, an "R" has been stamped in metal which certifies that Rossi has inspected, repaired, test fired and cleaned revolver under their Enhanced Warranty. Basically a bit over 90 day turn time.

I got a call from Taurus today as I had sent my Rossi 851 in back in April. They said it could not be repaired and they would send me a Taurus 856. I said I wanted a 4 in bbl. gun and she said she would make a note of it but all she was authorized to do was offer the 856. The moral of the story is if you have a 851 don't send it in.

Pretty much the same bait and switch that I got being forced to take a PT 111 G2 in exchange for my PT 145. They must be getting better at it however as yours only took three months versus my 15 months. I stupidly bought a Rossi 462-2 while waiting for that debacle to end...now I am back in the same old mess. Fool me once...

Update on Ross 851. I spoke with another of their reps. and told them I did not want a 2 in. Mod.856 and would rather have my Rossi 851 back and he agreed to send it back with a warning letter to cover their butt I quess. The show goes on.

I am baffled that they installed a new hammer block in another member's friend's gun...but wouldn't do it in yours.

A guess would be that they "triaged" the models and only designed/manufactured new parts for the largest contingent of guns in circulation. If they had any integrity at all they would send you a new revolver with a 4" barrel...they ARE still making them, right? Screwing one's customers is not a good business model.

They don't make pistols or revolvers anymore from the looks of it.
