I certainly would have taken a Model 65 in 357 over the #605 that they insisted was the only option for my R462-2. Lesson learned.

Well I filed on my M68 today using the online form but I really am not at ease sending a working pistol into the black hole that I read about with this and the earlier recalls ! I really wish that Taurus would give more information out about the recalls ! UPDATE : Well I checked on the link in the sticky and it says that my pistol serial # is not a part of the recall ! I wonder why it didn't say that on the other link that I entered it on ? It does make me feel better about the pistol and I am glad that I won't have the hassle ! Good luck to everyone who has to go through it !

I suspect the slow play with Taurus and Rossi recalls is money. The company is trying to resolve issues as they can absorb it into their bottom line. I do wonder if there is any statute of limitations as to how long the company has to comply with the court ordered settlments? I also wonder if there is any statute of limitations as to how long the court ordered settlement is effective.

With most Judgements/settlements, a judgement must be renewed every eight years, at least in Texas Real Estate.

Well, I called Taurus Customer Service today to check on the progress of my R97104. I spoke to a very nice and helpful young lady who looked up the serial number of my revolver, and founded that it was deemed to be unrepairable, and that they would replace it with a Model 65 in black oxide. I explained that it so happened to already have a 65 in matte stainless, and really didn't need another one, and I proposed that I would be happy instead to take a Model 82. (All I intended to shoot through it was .38 Special anyway.) She put me on hold for less than a minute, and said that her supervisor would approve a model 82, and she did verify that I knew that the 82 was a .38 Special, which of course I did, but then she said the the 82's were on backorder! I asked if the 65's were available, and she said that they were, so I asked her if she could put it through for a 65. She did so, and took down my FFL's info (which they already had on file). So now it's just a couple of months more to wait.

Perhaps it's a trick of the lighting or something, but photos I've seen of the current 65 in black oxide appear to be a little glossier than those revolvers from when Taurus first went to the "flat black grill paint". But I guess there's nothing to be done about it. At least I already have holsters and speedloaders for a 65.
