    My Rossi rant...

My regret is that I waited too long to get on the wagon. There was always too many things that took prority over buying a Rossi although I did enjoy following the Rossi fans here in the forum.

That said, when I finally got one thanks to a special individual, it didn't take long to fall in love with it.

First, it's freaking gorgeous! Second, shoots like a dream and accurate as all get out! Comfortable in hand, and has a single action trigger pull that would rival a gun snobs old Smith any day of the week.

Anyway, they're gone now, probably thanks to Taurus. I'm sure Taurus didn't want the Rossi's on the shelf next to their "cheapened" finished guns, and for less money to boot. Hopefully they will come back at some point.

Now I'm toiling with the idea of a new Taurus, perhaps the 856, another 85, the 82, the 65 or maybe even a poly 38..... I don't know for sure, I'm just pondering right now.

I will though keep my eyes open for used Rossi's or even better, new Rossi's (that someone hoarded) at gun shows etc....

End of rant I guess, carry on my dear friends!

I can't say enough good things about my recent buy of a 98 Plinker. The finish and blue job is as good as any gun at any price. The rear sight did not adjust when I got it but a little tinkering and LocTite took care of that. CCI MiniMags took care of the sticky cylinder. I put 8 in the 10 ring at 15 yards last weekend.

It is becoming one of my favorites.

And that, sir, is a most pleasing revolver. I like the finish and it looks to fit in the hand well.

I'd wonder what it would look like with different grips -- perhaps some sort of wood.

I have an old M68 I bought for my step dad in 81 and inherited back. I don't shoot it much, but it's quite accurate, a 3" gun, too. The 68s were five shooters, copy of a Smith M36. Mine has a wonderful deep blue finish.

Now, in the late 80s-early 90s, Rossi's finish went south. Lots of machining marks and ill fitted stocks and such. I had two of 'em. They both had firing pins break. I sent them both back to Interarms and the 88 I had (a stainless 68 ) worked well, but the 971 busted the firing pin on the first cylinder. I then got a trusted gunsmith to fit a Smith K frame firing pin on it and it worked well. I never trusted 'em after that for carry. Don't need a firing pin breaking in a fire fight. Traded off the 971 and sold the 88. I still have the old 68 and a .22 caliber M511 Sportsman which is a good shooter and with my Heritage, excepting the NAA minis, are my only rimfire revolvers. The Rossi 511 is a MUCH better shooter than the Heritage.
